joachimstrasse,linienstrasse,berlin-mitte:

an apparently unsuccessful attempt to marry classicism to prefab architecture leaves 2 blind spots between 2 buildings. on these blind spots, as a faint echo of medieval structures, 2 twin houses are erected. on a footprint of barely 25 m2 each house features 5 rooms on 5 floors, a surface size of 110 m2, its own entry to the street and its own garden (on the roof). central element of the house is the staircase. attached to the the house front as an oriel, the staircase gives the façade its form.
